Lord Dhanwantari

 

Dhanwantari, the God of health, healing and cure is an avatar of Lord Vishnu.  In meditation, the Lord Dhanwantari is visualized as a four-handed, dark-complexioned God carrying Sankha (the holy bugle of Lord Vishnu), Chakra (the revolving blade), the bowl of Amruth (the potion of eternal life and rejuvenation), and Jalooka the leach used by Ayurvedic practitioners to suck away the vitiated blood from the body.

Om shankham chakram jalukam dadhad amruta ghatam charu dorbhi chaturbhih
Sukshma svach ati hridayam sukha pari vilasanam maulim ambhoja netram
Kalam bhodjvalangam kati tata vilasa charu pitambaradhyam
Vande Dhanwantarim tam nikhila gada vanam prauda davagni leelam.

We bow to Lord Dhanwantari , holding his graceful four hands a Conch shell, a Wheel, a Leech and a pot of heavenly nectar. Within whose heart shines the most pure and gentle pleasing blaze of light, which surrounds his head and emanate from his lotus eyes. On the dark water whose body is luminous and gleaming. Dressed up in yellow attire and by whose mere play all the diseases are vanquished as if by a mighty forest fire. Important offerings for the Lord Dhanwantari are Mukkudi, Dhanwantari Homam,Thamara Mala, Tulsi Mala,Thrukkai Venna, Palpayasam, Atta Kuzhambu, Venna Pazham, Ennaydal. Dhanwantari Jayanthi or Dhanwantari Triodasi is celebrated on the thirteenth day of Krishna Paksha in Aswini month. On this day Dhanwantari Homam and special poojas are conducted in the temple.

 

Lord Sastha

Lord Sastha is the son of Lord Siva and Mohini - the female transformation of Lord Vishnu depicted in the famous story of 'Palazhi Mathanam', the churning of the cosmic milk ocean, in the epics and puranas. In India Lord Sastha is worshipped in two forms. Dharmasastha has two wives, Purna and Pushkala, and a son Satyaka. He is the protector of dharma. Purna represents perfection and Pushkala the prosperity. Adherence to dharma enables one to achieve truthfulness (Satya) that is Satyaka.

In Shri. Dhanwantari temple parappur, Lord Sastha with his wife Prabhavathy and the son Satyaka is installed. Worship to Lord Sastha provides a prosperous family life and wisdom.

Sarkara Payasam , Elluthiri, Ellu Payasam, Ada, Neeranjanam are the special offerings to Lord Sastha. As Abhishekam is an important offering for the Lord Sastha, it is done with milk, ghee, bhasma and tender coconut.

Lord Ganapathy

In India the most worshipped deity after the Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu is Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the god of wisdom and success, lord of beginnings, lord of defender and remover of obstacles, patron of arts and sciences. For the success of a new venture, Lord Ganapathy is worshipped at the auspicious beginning of it.

O Lord with the Elephant face, He who is served by the celestial beings, He who eats the essence of the Kaith & Jamun fruits, Oh! Son of Mother Uma(Parvati), Destroyer of Suffering (Reason for the destruction of suffering), We bow down to your Lotus feet O the destroyer of obstacles.

The one who meditates Ganapahy every day will be blessed with wisdom and prosperity.

Goddess Durga


Goddess Durga is the mother of the universe and believed to be the power behind the work of creation, preservation, and destruction of the world. Since time immemorial she has been worshiped as the supreme power of the Supreme Being. There are many incarnations of the goddess Durga as Parvathi, Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Kali etc. Durga is worshipped in sixty four different forms. In Shri. Dhanwantari temple Parappur, Goddess Durga is worshipped as Vana Durga.

Sauvarnaambuja madhyagaam trinayanam saudamini sannibham
Chakrm shamkha varabhayani dadhatim indoh kalam bibhratim
Graiveyangada harakundala dharam aakhandalaadhyaih stutam
Dhyayed vindhya nivasinim shashimukhiim paarshwastha panchananam.

O Goddess, the one who meditates in the middle of the golden lotus, with three eyes, the one who radiates the light, the one who holds in her hands the Shamkha, Chakra , Vara (the gesture of granting boons) and Abhaya (the gesture of granting protection from all fears), the one who adorns her crown with the crescent moon, the one who is adorned with necklace, bracelets and anklets, earrings etc, the one who is worshiped by Brahma and other deities, the one whose face is bright and beautiful like the moon, having the five-faced Lord Sadashiva by her side, We pray to the goddess who resides on the Vindhya Mountains. .

For the long happy married life and prosperity of the family, this avatar of Devi is worshipped. Poomootal, Katumpayasam, Bhgavatseva, Muttarukkal, Pattum Thaliyum charthal, Archana are the important offerings.


 

Naga Raja & Naga Yakshi


In Kerala,snake gods are worshipped in different forms like Nagaraja, Naga Yakshi, Naga Chamundi and Sarppa Yakshi. Naga Yakshi and Sarppa Yakshi are the wives of Lord Nagaraja and Naga Chamundi is his sister.
In Shri. Dhanwantari temple Parappur, Nagaraja and Naga Yakshi are worshipped. Noorum Palum and Manjal Abhishekam are the main offerings to these deities. Special Poojas are offered on the Aayilyam Day of Kanni Month and Thiruvonam Day of Makaram Month.
Serpent Deities are worshipped to get the relief from incurable diseases.
